Let's get out of hot Tokyo!

This summer is exceptionally hot! I do not have any plan to go far out from Tokyo, but staying in Tokyo is out of question too. Let' get out to somewhere cooler than here......so, we left Tokyo 9:30 on Aug. 15th and took Kanetsu Highway heading to north.

Got out of highway at Takasaki and took Route 406 to the west. The temperature was 32 deg. C until passing Haruna town, Kurabuchi village or Nidoage pass. Then immediately after going down the pass and getting into Kita-Karuizawa town, it went down to only 24 deg. C!! I stopped the air-conditioning of my car and wide opened the all of windows.
Then We had a lunch at Italian restaurant in the forest, and took hot spa after arriving at our summer house. The dinner was also taken at the restaurant in spa house, where jumbo tonkatsu is of their special food.

Aug. 17th, we drove down to Ueda city and had soba lunch at the famous restaurant called "Onishi" in the old part of Ueda city. It was a one of the best soba restaurant I ever had after Miyako town in Fukushima.
After Ueada, we visited the old town called "Unno-juku" which is one of the lodging towns along the Nakasendo trip route between Tokyo and Nagoya. We saw a lot of old but well maintained houses at the both side of the road.

The 4th day, 18th. Aug. is the last day in Kita-Karuizawa.
It was a nice and relaxed stay in the flesh and cool air. After having late breakfast, we left the summer house and took route to Tokyo, a city of high temperature, Wao!!
