Tsukiji, it's a world biggest fish market.
The market has been opened for only professional buyers such as retail fish shop owner, sushi shop master or cook of a restaurant for long time.
But it has changed already.
You will see not only a normal housewife shopping but also obvious tourists shooting a picture or video just like an other sightseeing place!
So, if you have some time in Tokyo, you should visit Tsukiji once, and I am sure that you will ask your friend to join you at the next time!
Tsukiji is open from Monday to Saterday, and closed on Sunday and national holiday.
However, the place still belongs to the professionals.
Therefore, each of us, as an amateur, should pay at least some attention not to disturb their business.
Rule No.1: Time
Those professional people shop at very early in the morning. So I recommend you to go there between 8:00AM to 10AM that the shops are not so busy.
Rule No.2: Wares
Mind yourself when you walk around the Tsukiji that it is a real fish market and not supermarket.
The flower is always wet and water or seawater may splash on to you any time! A large handbag may hit somebody or commercial goods when passing through a narrow aisle.
Be prepared against soil and do not bring anything other than you need or you bought.
Rule No.3: Watch out!
The place is very busy and you will notice that so many carts or carrier cars are running around with speed. Keep your eyes wide open to 360deg, or you will be hit!!
If you are not alone, walk in line and not to block an aisle please.
So, are you ready?
Let's go in to the market!!
If you see the blue roof, it's there!
